GOODWELL, OK- The Aggies prevailed in a vital doubleheader against the Central Christian College Tigers Friday, securing their place in the upcoming Sooner Athletic Conference tournament. Aggies victorious with scores of 17-16 and 6-4.
Game One Recap:
In a high-scoring and tension-filled first game, the OPSU Aggies produced a remarkable comeback, overcoming a substantial deficit to clinch a 17-16 victory.Â
Jeremy Dibartolomeo contributed with two hits and two RBIs, while Kameron Kostial's crucial home run drove in two runs during the sixth inning.
A pivotal moment came in the seventh inning when OPSU scored 13 runs, taking advantage of several fielding errors by Central Christian. Ryota Kusumoto scored the game-winning run in the eighth and crossed home plate on a sacrifice fly by Dibartolomeo, concluding the surprising and hard-fought victory.
Game Two Recap:
The second game was a tighter affair, with OPSU maintaining a narrow lead to secure a 6-4 win. Pitcher Zach Mayhew earned the win, improving his season record to 4-0, by holding off the Tigers in the final innings.
Offensively, Jeremy Dibartolomeo again shined brightly, delivering a solo home run and driving in a critical run in the ninth inning to ensure the Aggies' victory. The Aggies finished the game with nine hits as a team.
