GOODWELL, OK - The Aggies baseball team faced off against the Texas Wesleyan University Rams Friday afternoon in a doubleheader. The Aggies split the day with a 4-3 victory in the first game before caving 5-8 in the second game.
The last victory the Aggies had a win over the Rams at home before this was on March 9, 2019.
Game 1 Highlights:
- First Inning: The Aggies came out strong, with Ryota Kusumoto scoring the opening run. Jeremy Dibartolomeo's RBI single to left center brought Halton home and put the Aggies ahead early.
- Fourth Inning: Blake Bonner and Ryota Kusumoto delivered crucial RBI singles, pushing the score to 4-1 in favor of the Aggies.
Josh Doerr claimed the win with a great outing, allowing just two earned runs over 5.2 innings, while Brandon Rodriguez sealed the deal, earning his fourth save of the season.
Game 2Â
Inning 3-5:
- Despite being behind, the Aggies fought back. In the 3rd inning, Bo Spitdowski and Isaiah Halton delivered crucial hits, bringing in runs and narrowing the gap to 8-2.
- In the 5th inning, Isaiah Halton continued to impact with a single, bringing in 2 more runs for Oklahoma Panhandle State. Later in the inning, David Garcia's sacrifice fly added another run, making the score 8-5.
After the doubleheader head coach Shawn Joy stated"Pound of how we played today. We've got a chance to win a series tomorrow."
