Goodwell, Okla—The Aggies football team took on Southwest Baptist University on Saturday night in a tough non-conference matchup. Looking to bounce back from a 65-7 defeat last year, the Aggies were again bested by the Sabercats, 42-10.
The Aggies scored points early in the game. A 12-play, 56-yard drive was capped by a 39-yard field goal from Carlos Vazquez, giving the Aggies a brief 3-0 lead. However, the Sabercats responded with a powerful offensive display, pulling ahead as the game progressed.
In the third quarter, the Aggies scored again, this time on a 1-yard touchdown run by Martin Blake, who finished the game with 43 rushing yards on 17 carries. The 9-play, 57-yard drive.
Quarterback Brandon Stephens went 9-of-19 for 64 yards, while Jamarian George completed 1-of-1 for 24 yards. Blake also contributed in the receiving game, leading the Aggies with 37 yards on three catches.
Defensively, Tyvonne Jeffrie and Josiah Flores both recorded six total tackles. Dylan Thibodeaux and TK Woodson added four and five tackles, respectively, while Aaron Acosta-Lewis and Elzie Barnett III recorded a sack.
