GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University volleyball team battled against the College of the Ozarks but ultimately fell in four intense sets (18-25, 25-14, 27-29, 22-25) in Anchor D Arena. Despite the loss, the Aggies showcased their resilience and potential, pushing the Bobcats to their limits in each set.
After a slow start in the first set, which saw the Aggies fall 18-25, they bounced back dominantly during the second set, winning 25-14. The third set proved to be a nail-biter, with both teams exchanging leads until the Bobcats edged out a 29-27 victory. The fourth set followed a similar pattern, with the Aggies fighting hard but falling short 25-22.
Leading the Aggies' attack were Brenna Moore with 12 kills, Taylor Silva with 11, and Taylore Alsaid with 10. Nyah Ulmer led the Aggies' serving game with two aces, followed by one from Taylore Alsaid and Mia Sanchez.
Defensively, Emma Coburn stood tall at the net, contributing 6 blocks, while Silva and Moore added 2 and 1 blocks, respectively. In the backcourt, Teagan Mendoza-Werner led with 15 digs, followed by Alsaid's 12 and Silva's 9. Ulmer paced the team in assists, registering 28, while Sanchez and Mendoza-Werner chipped in 7 and 3 assists each.
Head Coach Myers praised the team's performance but highlighted the need to set the tone early. "We have seen a lot of good competition, and our next matchup is also great. We just need to be focused on being aggressive right from the start and being ahead rather than coming from behind."
