Goodwell,Okla: On Saturday, the OPSU Aggies football team rolled to a 52-6 victory over Arkansas Baptist College in their first-ever trip to Little Rock. The Aggies' commanding performance was highlighted by quarterback Brandon Stephens reaching a significant milestone of 5,000 career passing yards, becoming the first OPSU quarterback since Caleb Holbrook (2012-2014).
The Aggies wasted no time asserting their dominance, with Martin Blake opening the scoring on a 1-yard touchdown run just seconds into the game. After a series of strong drives, Jamarian George added a 14-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, giving the Aggies a 14-0 lead.
Stephens hit his stride in the second quarter, connecting with Kobi Hill for a 1-yard touchdown pass. Shortly after, Carlos Vazquez nailed a 37-yard field goal to extend the lead. Stephens then linked up with Jalen Partida on a 26-yard pass for another touchdown, bringing the halftime score to 31-0.
The second half saw more of the same: Stephens threw a 23-yard touchdown pass to Dillon Laurer and later ran in a 20-yard score himself. Arkansas Baptist managed to avoid the shutout with a 25-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter, but the Aggies responded with Eric Barlow's 39-yard rushing touchdown to seal the 52-6 win.
Brandon Stephens was nearly perfect, completing 19 of 22 passes for 262 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions. Martin Blake led the rushing attack on the ground with 70 yards and a touchdown.Â
Defensively, the Aggies were dominant, forcing four interceptions, including a 35-yard return by Jordan Lyons.
