Aggie Women's Basketball Falls to Mid-America Christian University in Oklahoma City
Goodwell, OK — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggie women's basketball team faced a challenging contest on Thursday evening, falling to the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 81-43. Despite a valiant effort, the Aggies could not match the offensive intensity of the Evangels, who improved to 14-1 overall and 10-1 in conference play. The Aggies hold a 1-15 overall record and 1-12 in conference play.
The Aggies were led by senior Lyric Carpenter, who scored nine points, going 5-of-6 from the free-throw line and grabbing four rebounds. Heidi Rodriguez contributed seven points, three rebounds, and three assists, while Zamari Reece added six points and four rebounds.
Panhandle State struggled offensively in the first half, managing just 17 points, while the Evangels surged ahead with 44, including a 29-point second quarter. MACU capitalized on its defensive intensity, forcing 22 Aggie turnovers and converting them into fast-break opportunities.
In the second half, the Aggies showed resilience, improving their offensive output and scoring 26 points across the third and fourth quarters. The Aggies' bench also made a notable impact, with Molly Jones adding six points and a perfect 2-of-3 from beyond the arc.
Rebounding played a significant role in the game, with the Aggies pulling down 32 boards, including nine on the offensive end. Jana Radovanovic led the team in rebounds with five and contributed six points as well. However, MACU's defensive pressure and balanced scoring attack proved too much for the Aggies to overcome.
