Goodwell, OK. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball team faced a hard-fought contest on Thursday night, ultimately falling to Central Christian College 60-51 in McPherson, Kansas. Despite a strong second-half push, the Aggies could not overcome an early deficit, dropping to 1-16 on the season and 1-13 in conference play.
The Aggies trailed 18-7 after the first quarter as Central Christian capitalized on key scoring opportunities. However, OPSU responded resiliently in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Tigers 34-30 during that stretch and closing the gap. Central Christian sealed the victory with a solid fourth quarter, holding off the Aggies' late efforts.
Sophomore guard Zamari Reece led the Aggies with 14 points, shooting 3-for-7 from the field and an aggressive 8-for-15 from the free-throw line. She also grabbed five rebounds in her 27 minutes of play. Senior forward Diana Santos added 11 points and five rebounds, while junior forward Lyric Carpenter contributed six points and seven boards.
The Aggies showed grit on the glass, finishing with 37 rebounds, including an impressive eight offensive boards. Despite their hustle, turnovers and fouls hindered their momentum, as OPSU committed 23 personal fouls and turned the ball over 14 times.
The Tigers' balanced scoring attack led them to victory, which they secured with clutch defensive stops in the final minutes.
