Goodwell, OK. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies women's basketball team faced a tough challenge at home, falling 74-39 to the University of Science and Arts on Thursday evening at Anchor D Arena. Despite showing flashes of improvement, the Aggies could not overcome the Drovers' balanced attack and consistent play.
The Aggies struggled to find their rhythm early, managing just two points in the second quarter and entering halftime down 41-13. While they showed resilience in the second half, outscoring their first-half total with 26 points, the deficit proved too large to overcome.
Lyric Carpenter led the Aggies offensively with 11 points, shooting an efficient 5-for-8 from the field while contributing three rebounds and one steal. Diana Santos added six points and a team-high seven rebounds, going a perfect 6-for-6 from the free-throw line. Heidi Rodriguez chipped in with five points and four rebounds, while Jana Radovanovic brought energy off the bench with five points, three assists, and one block.
The Aggies struggled from beyond the arc, shooting 18.8%, while USAO capitalized on their offensive opportunities, spreading the scoring across their lineup.
"We had to simplify things tonight," said head coach Wiltiuz after the game. "We had to slow things down and look for those easy passes to get it down low. We figured it out a little tonight, but there's still a lot of work to do."
