GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University men's basketball team returned to Anchor D Arena for the first time since November 23, 2024, hosting John Brown University in a highly anticipated Sooner Athletic Conference matchup. Despite a valiant effort and a spirited comeback, the Aggies fell short, losing 60-55.
First-Half Highlights
Mike Carter delivered a dunk in the paint to give OPSU their first points. Amaree Brown's back-to-back baskets and Abdulh Diaby's dunk late in the half kept the Aggies competitive. OPSU trailed 31-24 at halftime, battling a tough John Brown defense.
Second-Half Comeback
Jerry Abushanab opened the second half with a three-pointer, igniting a rally that brought the Aggies back from an 11-point deficit. Amaree Brown finished with a game-high 16 points, while Mike Carter dominated the glass, securing nine rebounds to go with his 11 points. The Aggies couldn't overcome the Golden Eagles' sharp shooting down the stretch despite their efforts.
Stat Leaders
The Aggies shot 36.1% from the field and struggled from beyond the arc, converting just 16.1% (5-for-31). Despite the loss, OPSU showcased grit and determination, earning 15 second-chance points and 26 points in the paint.
