Volleyball Roars Past Tigers in Straight Sets

GOODWELL, Okla. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State volleyball team (13-11, 11-6 SAC) controlled Friday night's match from start to finish versus Central Christian (4-19, 2-15) to sweep the Tigers for the second time this season, 25-9, 25-13, 25-15.

The first set saw the Aggies tally eight aces, and the home team's defense never let CCC get into a rhythm. The dominance on display in the first set for OPSU included three separate runs of five consecutive points or more.

The only blips on the radar that favored the Tigers occurred early in both the second and third sets, but OPSU easily overcame those by outplaying the visitors in all facets.

Panhandle State notched a .297 kill percentage against Central Christian's negative-.031 percentage. The Aggies also had 12 aces and four team blocks, which more than doubled the Tigers' totals in those categories.

Taylore Alsaid had a stellar night with a game-high four aces and 20 digs. Winiffer Rodriguez also served up four aces, while Emma Coburn and Nyah Ulmer had two apiece.

Elena Kagiali contributed a match-high 14 kills, and Skyla Stark was dominant with nine kills and no errors at a .750 clip. Mia Sanchez set up the attack with 29 assists.

What's up next: OPSU celebrates its Senior Day on Saturday at 1 p.m. when it hosts Langston (9-16, 5-11) for the final regular season home game.
