GOODWELL, Okla. — Oklahoma Panhandle State has named volleyball's
Elena Kagiali and rodeo's Luke Tippman as the Aggies of the Week for their standout performances from Sept. 29- Oct. 5.
The now two-time Aggie of the Week, Kagiali, was once again on a heater this past weekend in the homestand. The versatile outside hitter posted double-double kill-dig performances in back-to-back games, which helped lead the Aggies past Mid-America Christian and took Science & Arts Oklahoma to five sets. On Friday night, she put up 16 kills and 13 digs, which was followed on Saturday by recording a monstrous 28 kills and 29 digs in the five-set thriller.
Luke Tippmann also had a performance to be celebrated, as the rodeo team went five hours east and competed at the Oklahoma State-hosted rodeo in Stillwater, Oklahoma. There, Tippman would win the Men's All-Around Champion as he competed in bareback riding and steer wrestling, taking home second overall in the riding and fifth overall in the wrestling. In the qualifying rounds (long go) of the bareback riding, Tippman posted a score of 67/100, giving him second in the long go (score is based off both the horse and rider). Then in the short go he would post a 66/100, which placed him third in finals but second in the average. On the steer wrestling side, Tippman posted a time of 6.8 seconds, which gave him an 11th place finish in the long go, but he would bounce back magnificently in the short go where he recorded a time of 5.3 seconds, good for third in the round and fifth overall. These stellar performances gave him the title of All-Around Champion and helped the OPSU men to a runner-up finish.
