OKLAHOMA CITY — Elena Kagiali was named the Sooner Athletic Conference Attacker of the Week from Oct. 27-Nov. 2 on Monday by the SAC office, marking the fourth consecutive week she has garnered the award.
Kagiali snagged the honor primarily due to her historic 33-kill performance Saturday at Mid-America Christian, an effort that included 14 kills in just the fourth set. In the remarkable individual showing, Kagiali became the first OPSU player to record more than 30 kills in a match since volleyball rejoined the NAIA in 2017.
Saturday's match also put Kagiali at a SAC-high 398 kills this season – which also surpassed 2021 NAIA All-American Honorable Mention Essence West for the most in a single year for the Aggies since at least 2017.
On the week, which included a road sweep over Science & Arts Oklahoma, Kagiali totaled 42 kills, averaging 6.00 kills per set on a .305 hitting percentage. The Piraeus, Greece, native also showcased her all-around play over the weekend, recording 35 digs for an average of 5.00 digs per set, four service aces and four total blocks.
In all, Kagiali accounted for 48.0 points between the two matches, with 36.0 of those coming at MACU.
OPSU volleyball has racked up nine weekly SAC awards this season, and the count for SAC Athlete of the Week honors across all OPSU Athletics in 2025-26 is up to 14.
Kagiali and the Aggies (15-12, 13-7 SAC) look to wrap up home-court advantage for the opening round of the SAC Tournament when it takes to the road for a pair of matches beginning Friday evening at Nelson (20-9, 18-2).
