OODWELL, Okla. – Aggies Baseball played a three-game Sooner Athletic Conference series against Central Christian College (Kan.) over the weekend.
The Aggies opened the series on Saturday with tough defeats, falling 8-7 in a closely contested first game and dropping the second contest 15-3. However, OPSU responded in a big way in game three, delivering an offensive explosion en route to a 17-12 victory.
Game 3: OPSU 17, Central Christian 12
The Aggies roared back in the series finale, lighting up the scoreboard with 17 runs on 16 hits. Alejandro Hernandez delivered the game's most significant moment in the second inning, blasting a grand slam to center field to put OPSU ahead 4-0. The Aggies continued to pour on the offense, scoring six runs in the second inning alone. Devin Lopez and Isaac Young added two-RBI doubles to push the lead to 8-0.
After Central Christian battled back with a five-run fifth inning and continued to threaten in the later innings, OPSU put the game out of reach with a dominant ninth inning. Ryota Kusumoto launched a solo home run, Lopez doubled home another run, and Jackson Somerville added an RBI single. David Garcia capped off the offensive onslaught with a two-RBI single to seal the 17-12 win.
Lopez had a standout performance, going 3-for-6 with four RBIs, while Hernandez finished 3-for-5 with four RBIs and a home run. Isaiah Halton also contributed, scoring four runs in the win.
Colby Diduch (2-2) earned the victory on the mound, tossing four strong innings while striking out ten batters. The last time a pitcher had ten strikeouts or more vs the Tigers was Markus Bracey(11) on 3-11-2021.
