GOODWELL, Okla. – The Aggies baseball team battled back in game three of their weekend series against the Wayland Baptist University Pioneers, securing a 10-7 victory on Saturday afternoon to avoid the sweep.
After dropping both games on Friday (6-9, 4-19).
Game Recap:
Wayland Baptist jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first inning, but the Aggies quickly answered. Devin Lopez ignited the offense with an RBI double down the left-field line and later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at 2-2. Jackson Somerville followed with an RBI double, giving OPSU a 3-2 lead.
The Pioneers regained control in the second and fourth innings, pushing their advantage to 7-4. However, the Aggies refused to back down. In the sixth, Isaac Young delivered a clutch two-run single to cut the deficit to 7-6.
OPSU's breakthrough came in the seventh inning when Lopez doubled to left field, driving in two runs to give the Aggies their first lead since the opening frame. Xavier Garcia followed with a two-run single, sealing the 10-7 win.
