Goodwell, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University baseball team dropped the rubber match of their Sooner Athletic Conference series against Southwestern Christian University on Sunday afternoon, falling 15-3.
The Aggies struck first in the second inning with RBI singles from Isaiah Halton and Xavier Garcia, giving OPSU an early 2-0 lead. Southwestern Christian responded in the third, tying the game at 2-2 before taking a 3-2 lead. OPSU answered in the bottom half of the inning when Bryan Montano reached on an error, allowing Alejandro Hernandez to score and even the game at 3-3.
However, the Eagles' offense erupted from the fourth inning onward, scoring 12 unanswered runs.
Bill Bonner collected a double, while Israel Gandara, Kobe Morgan, and Alejandro Hernandez recorded a hit. Esai Torres started on the mound for the Aggies, throwing three innings and allowing two earned runs. Leandro Tamaki (0-1) took the loss in relief.
The Aggies will look to bounce back as they travel to Fort Worth, Texas, to take on RV Texas Wesleyan University on Friday, March 28, at 1:00 PM.
