Fort Worth, TX -Aggies baseball team hit the road for a single nine-inning matchup against RV Texas Wesleyan University at Sycamore Park. Despite a strong start and a milestone moment for senior Ryota Kusumoto, the Aggies fell 10-3.
Kusumoto led off the game with a historic swing, recording his 150th career hit as an Aggie while extending his on-base streak to 16 consecutive games. The Aggies capitalized on the early momentum when Xavier Garcia grounded out to shortstop, bringing Kusumoto home for a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Josh Doerr took the mound for his eighth season start, keeping the Rams in check early before Texas Wesleyan broke through. Doerr finished with 4.1 innings pitched, allowing six hits and five runs (four earned) while striking out one. Jace Kushner entered in relief, tossing 3.2 innings with eight hits and five runs (four earned).
Despite trailing late, OPSU pushed across two runs in the ninth. Alejandro Hernandez brought home Devin Lopez with a sacrifice fly, and Bill Bonner followed with an infield single that plated Isaac Young.
Offensive Leaders:
The Aggies recorded a game-high 15 assists on the field but could not slow down the Rams' offensive attack. OPSU will look to bounce back against Texas Wesleyan on March 29 at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
