Portales, N.M. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University men's and women's track and field teams performed strongly at the ENMU Greyhound Invitational on Saturday, securing multiple top finishes on the track and in-the-field events.
Leading the way for the Aggies was the men's 4x100-meter relay team, as Dillon Bruington, Joshua Granillo, Kamron Neal, and Austin White sprinted to first place with a time of 41.14 seconds.
In the distance events, Trevor Youngblood placed fourth in the men's 1500-meter run with a time of 4:18.64, while Carla Tiniguar Tum finished ninth in the women's 1500-meter run, clocking in at 5:59.58.
Carolina Valenzuela placed seventh in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2:30.32, and on the men's side, Arturo Vallejo (2:00.74) and Colby Perez (2:00.91) secured second and third-place finishes, respectively.
Sprinter Jamiah Clay claimed victory in the women's 400-meter dash, posting a time of 58.22 seconds. In the men's 400-meter dash, Alan Martinez placed seventh with a time of 50.14 seconds.
In the 200-meter dash, Breyanna Kemp took first place for the women with a time of 24.87, while Austin White also earned first place in the men's event, crossing the finish line in 21.29 seconds. Ashlynn Perez recorded an eighth-place finish in the women's 100-meter dash with a time of 12.47 seconds.
In the field events, Savannah Coblentz in the women's hammer throw, earning tenth place with a mark of 40.27 meters. Brittney Carrasco finished 13th in the discus throw (32.26m). She placed 10th in the javelin throw (16.78m), with Avery Brown finishing 11th in the same event (15.90m).
The Aggies now focus on their next challenge: the TTU Masked Rider Open, which will be hosted by Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, on April 4-5.
