Marion, Ind. — Oklahoma Panhandle State University sprinter Kamron Neal continued his postseason run Thursday at the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships, hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University. Neal competed in the men's 100-meter dash prelims, finishing second in his heat with a time of 10.54 seconds, but narrowly missed advancing to the finals.
Despite a strong showing, Neal's time placed him 12th overall, just outside the top 8 needed to qualify for Friday's championship race.
"I thought Kamron ran really well today," said head coach Cyrus Hall. "He's been feeling sick, but I thought his execution today was great. I knew if he finished top 2 in his heat he'd have a shot at the finals. He just missed out on finals finishing 12th. But he came in ranked 23rd. So I'm really proud of him for leaving better than he came in."
Neal will return to the track on Friday at 3:20 p.m.
