NEW ORLEANS — The Oklahoma Panhandle State men's track & field team, along with four of its individual athletes, garnered All-Academic recognition Monday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Dillon Bruington,
Diego Hernandez,
Kamron Neal and
Colby Perez each earned the individual honors, achieving both a minimum-3.25 cumulative GPA and meeting NAIA "A" or "B" standards during either the indoor or outdoor season.
Bruington and Neal, both Texas natives coming off stellar sophomore seasons, major in health & physical education. Bruington headlined the Aggies' long jump and triple jump efforts, while Neal added to his All-American awards collection in the 200 meters.
Perez majored in agribusiness and solidified his spot as one of the squad's top participants in the 800 meters, while Hernandez completed his freshman studies in wind energy & maintenance technology and was a key member on the 4x400 relay team.
Collectively, OPSU was one of 49 men's squads in the NAIA to be named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team, including the only team to achieve it from the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Aggies earned the honor by posting a 3.11 cumulative GPA, meeting the minimum-3.0 GPA requirement.
