Chickasha, Okla. – Aggies baseball team faced a tough challenge against the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) Drovers, dropping both games of Saturday's doubleheader. The Aggies fell 7-1 in the opener before a heartbreaking 5-4 loss in the nightcap.
Game 1: Drovers 7, Aggies 1
Despite a solid effort at the plate, the Aggies struggled to capitalize on scoring opportunities in the first game. OPSU managed ten hits but was limited to just one run, which came in the third inning when Devin Lopez singled through the left side to bring home Kobe Morgan.
The Drovers extended their lead in the fifth and sixth innings, capitalizing on errors and timely hitting to put the game out of reach.
Isaiah Halton led the Aggies offensively, going 3-for-4 at the plate, while Xavier Garcia added a double. Esai Torres (2-4) took the loss on the mound, allowing just two earned runs over five innings while striking out one.
Game 2: Drovers 5, Aggies 4
The second game of the doubleheader saw the Aggies put up an intense fight, holding a late lead before USAO rallied in the final inning.
OPSU struck first in the opening frame when Ryota Kusumoto doubled to bring home Halton. After USAO responded with three runs in the second inning, the Aggies answered in the sixth. Jackson Somerville's fielder's choice scored Xavier Garcia before Alejandro Hernandez delivered a clutch two-run double to give OPSU a 4-3 advantage.
However, the Drovers mounted a seventh-inning comeback, tying the game with an RBI single before a costly fielding error allowed the go-ahead run to score. The Aggies could not answer in the bottom half, sealing their second loss of the day.
Halton continued his strong performance, recording two hits in the second game, while Kusumoto and Hernandez each contributed key doubles.
