NORTH NEWTON, Kan. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State volleyball team (1-2) wrapped up play at the Bethel College Classic on Saturday afternoon, falling in straight sets (16-25, 13-25, 13-25) to undefeated Texas A&M Texarkana (4-0).
OPSU struggled to keep pace against the Red River Athletic Conference's preseason favorites throughout the match, with the Eagles posting a .291 hitting percentage compared to the Aggies' .054 clip.
Ava Newby was a bright spot with a team-best nine kills, while
Skyla Stark led the defensive effort at the net with two total blocks.
Elena Kagiali delivered a strong overall match with an Aggie-high 12 digs to go with six kills, a block and an ace.
Taylor Silva notched 11 digs, four assists and one ace, while
Mia Sanchez led Panhandle State with 15 assists.
What's up next: OPSU has nine days off before it hits the road on Aug. 26 for an exhibition match at NCAA Division II-institution New Mexico Highlands in Las Vegas, New Mexico.
