LAS VEGAS, N.M. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State volleyball team (1-2) traveled to Las Vegas, New Mexico, Tuesday evening to take on NCAA Division II institution-New Mexico Highlands for an exhibition match, where it fell 3-0 (20-25, 19-25, 16-25).

Taylor Silva headlined a strong night from the service line for OPSU with four aces.
Skyla Stark and
Aurelia Pleets each also recorded an ace.

Emma Coburn notched four kills without an attack error, giving the senior a team-high .571 hitting percentage on the match.

Mia Sanchez produced a double-double with 15 assists and 13 digs.
Winiffer Rodriguez chipped in defensively with eight digs.

Elena Kagiali had a solid line of five kills and five digs.

OPSU hung with NMHU through much of the first set, getting out to an early lead and staying within two points down 18-16 after an ace by Pleets, before the Cowgirls closed out the frame.

Midway through set two the Aggies also trailed by just two, 14-12, following a kill by
Brenna Moore. Panhandle State kept the pressure up with back-to-back service aces by Silva a few points later that made it 18-16 again, but NMHU went on another run that continued into the third set.

What's up next: OPSU has a quick turnaround back to NAIA competition when it travels to the Labor Day Classic hosted by the College of Saint Mary beginning Friday, Aug. 29, with a showdown versus No. 10 Providence (3-1) at 10 a.m.
