OKLAHOMA CITY — The Sooner Athletic Conference announced Tuesday its SAC Athletes of the Week for performances from Aug. 25-31, and Oklahoma Panhandle State's Mia Sanchez was honored as the Setter of the Week for the second time in her career.
 
OPSU volleyball played four matches at the College of Saint Mary Labor Day Classic from Aug. 29-30, in which Sanchez set a career-high of 44 assists in a five-set win over Hastings on Friday, only to top that performance a day later with 53 assists versus Ottawa.
 
During her 53-assist match, the senior surpassed 1,000 career assists midway through the Aggies' first-set win.
 
In addition to averaging 8.63 assists per set for 138 total assists, Sanchez added 38 digs, 13 kills, two aces and a block across the week to net the SAC accolade.
 
Panhandle State (2-5) will look for continued strong play from its senior setter when it begins conference play on Friday, Sept. 5, at College of the Ozarks.
