ALAMOSA, Col. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State men's soccer team (4-1-2) concluded its nonconference schedule Saturday afternoon with a thrilling 3-3 draw at NCAA Division II-Adams State (1-3-1).
Calum Murphy scored two goals in the high-powered affair, as the Aggies outshot ASU 14-7 and held a massive 10-0 advantage in corner kicks.
The first half was a scoring frenzy for both sides, as Murphy got on the board in the eighth minute with his second goal of the season, assisted by
Miguel Castejon.
The Grizzlies answered seven minutes later with back-to-back strikes, giving the hosts a 2-1 advantage.
Murphy tied the match back up in the 40th minute for his brace, as
Zusipheyena Gxarisa picked up his first assist in 2025.
The sides were not done exchanging scores, however, as a late goal from ASU sent it to the intermission with a 3-2 advantage.
Despite controlling possession and putting up nine corner kicks in the second half, OPSU was unable to get the equalizer until the late stages of the match, when a Grizzlies foul in the box put
Ayoup Bader in the spotlight for a penalty kick.
Bader did not miss his chance at the equalizer, giving the senior his fourth goal of the season in the 86th minute.
OPSU had one more set piece opportunity in the waning minutes with its 10th corner kick of the match, but the game ultimately ended in a draw.
Othman Gherab was active for the Aggies throughout the day with six shots (four on goal), numbers that led all players in the match.
