GOODWELL, Okla. — Oklahoma Panhandle State University listed women's cross country's
Carolina Valenzuela and
Thantup Saengvut of men's golf as the Aggies of the Week for their athletic performances spanning the week of Sept. 22-28.
Carolina Valenzuela had a stellar performance placing eighth of 26 runners at the New Mexico Highlands University Cross Country Jam. Her eighth place time in the 5k was a solid 19:58, marking the course record of any runner for the Aggies in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Valenzuela has made vast improvements comparative to last year, where at the same race and course this time last year she placed 12
th out of 30, with a time of 21:55. Coach
Cyrus Hall is excited for what's to begin the rest of the season for them as they travel to Siloam Springs, Arkansas, on Oct. 11 for the John Brown Invitational.
Thantup Saengvut had the tournament of his career shooting 4-under par in the Central Plains Invitational this past week in Salina, Kansas. His three-round total tallied up to 212 (70-71-71) which boosted him to some hardware this weekend placing third in a 42-man field. Saengvut was able to thrive in the tough tests of the Sand Creek Station golf course and the weather conditions at the beginning of the three-round slate.
