GOODWELL, Okla. —Oklahoma Panhandle State University Athletics has listed track and field's Avery Brown and Jason Granillo as the Mack's Motorsports Aggies of the Week from Jan. 19-25.
Brown led the Aggies in the shot put and weight throw on Thursday at the JD Martin Invitational at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma. There, Brown was electric, notching a mark of 10.11 meters in the shot put and 11.97 meters in the weight throw. Both performances marked season-bests for the Little Elm, Texas, native, with her shot put distance giving her a sixth-place finish out of 10 total competitors.
Granillo had a weekend to remember himself as another portion of the Aggies track and field team went to Boulder, Colorado, on Saturday for the Colorado Invitational at the University of Colorado. The junior sprinter competed in the 60m and 200m and recorded personal bests at both. He sprinted to a time of 7.14 seconds in the 60m dash before posting an Aggie-leading 22.31 seconds in the 200m dash. The latter was enough for Granillo to take 13th in a pool of 38 total competitors ranging from Colorado State, Air Force, Colorado, and other big-name schools.
