FORT SCOTT, Kan. — Oklahoma Panhandle State Rodeo's efforts at Fort Scott Community College from March 13-15 were highlighted by
Kiley Slavin's fourth-place showing in the goat tying average, as the women claimed fifth place and the men's team took 11th overall.
Kiley Slavin used a 6.9-second short go in goat tying to tie for second in the round, ultimately contributing 75 of the women's 85 total points.
Women's Performances
Beyond
Kiley Slavin's strong short round in the goat tying, which marked a 0.9 second improvement from the long go, OPSU also got a 10-point contribution from
Camree Slavin.
Camree Slavin snuck into the barrel racing finals as the last competitor but took seventh in the short go to add to the women's total. The junior recorded times of 14.01 seconds in both rounds, ending eighth in the average.
Two Aggies fell short of qualifying for the short go in the breakaway roping despite posting sub-4.0 second long rounds, as
Emilee Carroll and
Cierra Rimer stopped the clock at 3.5 and 3.7 seconds, respectively.
Men's Performances
Luke Tippmann posted a strong long round score of 71 in bareback riding, helping him tie for seventh in the average in the event.
In the tie down roping,
Brayden Kunz improved on his 14.4-second finish in the long go by recording a time of 12.0 seconds in finals to leap up to eighth in the average.
Also advancing to the short go was
Riley Stark in saddle bronc riding. He earned scores of 72 and 75 in the long and short rounds, respectively. The strong short-go performance tied for fifth in the round, placing him eighth in the average.
Cooper Wood and
Dawson Strecker partnered in the team roping and tied-10th in the average after getting 10th-11th in the long round by stopping the clock at 11.6 seconds.
