WAXAHACHIE, Texas – Oklahoma Panhandle State University's volleyball team closed out its regular season road slate with a Sooner Athletic Conference loss at Southwestern Assemblies of God University, 3-0.
The Aggies (9-17, 6-12 SAC) fell to the Lions (20-8, 13-5 SAC) by set scores of 25-11, 27-25, 25-16). The loss locks OPSU in as the No. 8-seed for the upcoming SAC post-season tournament.
Individually,
Hannah Murray had another solid outing for Head Coach
Shelby Bartley's squad. Murray had a team-leading nine kills, hitting .261 for the match. Murray made her presence known on defense, as well, making a team-best eight digs and also blocking four Lion attacks.
Senior
Kendra Butler knocked down five kills and had a .273 hitting percentage for the afternoon, to go along with an Aggie-high five blocks. Fellow senior
Ruth Ard had four kills and three blocks, as well.
Setter
Keeley Johnston was credited with 22 assists, three kills and seven digs.
Sydnee Saunders had three kills and three digs.
Richelle Carroll,
Ashley Sanchez, and
Tessa Francoise joined Butler with four digs, apiece.
The match at SAGU was the fourth in a row in which the Aggies hit below .100 as a team. All four resulted in OPSU losses.
Panhandle State will close out the regular season this weekend at home. On Friday (Nov. 8/7 p.m.), OPSU will welcome Southwestern Christian for "Senior Day" (as the Aggie programs honors both Butler and Ard). On Saturday (Nov. 9), it's Oklahoma City coming to Goodwell for a 1 p.m. match.
