This will be the second meetings between the teams this season. Back on November 15, Panhandle topped the Eagles, 98-49, on the first night of OPSU's Aggie Classic in Goodwell.
NNMC defeated a strong University of the Southwest team to open the season, but has not won since. The Eagles are 1-16 and on the 15-game skid. However, NNMC's record is somewhat deceiving, as the team has lost six contests to teams either in - or receiving votes for - the NAIA top 25. Eight other setbacks have been versus NCAA Division II competition.
OPSU is coming off of a 59-39 win at home over Randall University on December 9, before breaking for Christmas. That win snapped a five-game slide by the Aggies, as well.
In the most recent NAIA statistics, Panhandle State is well-represented. Individually, freshman
Shay Audrain (Stratford, Texas) leads the nation in three-point field goal percentage (56.1). Audrain is also No. 23 for three-point field goals made per game (2.56).
Teammate
Shaylynn Choate is No. 18 in three-point field goal percentage (45.8) and No. 25 in three-point field goals made per game (2.44).
Hannah Bennett is No. 17 in assist/turnover ratio (+2.60).
Head Coach
Victor Esparza's squad will also have the honor OPSU's first 2020 event, when it resumes Sooner Athletic Conference action at Texas Wesleyan University on Tuesday, January 2 (6 p.m.).
