Goodwell, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball team will enter the final week of the regular season on the precipice of gaining its first post-season playoff berth since 2006. The Aggies will be traveling to Southwestern Assemblies of God in Waxahachie, Texas on Thursday (Feb. 21/6 p.m.), before capping the regular season in Fort Worth, Texas at Texas Wesleyan University on Saturday (Feb. 23/2 p.m.).
Links for live video and statistics – provided by the opposing schools - for all games can be found on the Panhandle State athletics web site (
www.opsuaggies.com). Periodic updates from the contests will also be available via Panhandle State Athletics social media on Twitter (@OPSUAthletics).
Currently, the Aggies have a tight grip on the No. 8 slot in the Sooner Athletic Conference women's race. Although not numerically locked in yet, Panhandle would clinch its post-season bid with one win - or a loss by Southwestern Christian – during the final weekend. SCU is two games behind the Aggies' women in the standings. Panhandle split with the Eagles during the regular season.
"We took a big step last Saturday toward securing a playoff spot in the conference tournament," OPSU Head Coach
Victor Esparza said. "We are excited to go on the road for two more games to play for a higher seed and officially clinch a spot. It's been a long time coming and I'm excited to be a part of this group of Aggies. We are up for the challenge."
