GOODWELL, Okla. – The youthful Oklahoma Panhandle State University men's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to four matches, as it knocked off the University of the Southwest in overtime, 4-3, at Anchor D Stadium at Carl Wooten Field. The Aggies improved to 3-1-1 in their inaugural season of soccer competition.

"I think that the storyline still shows that we're still a little bit young," OPSU Head Coach Brandon Misuraca reflected post-game. "It's limiting mistakes; keeping goals against down, that's massively important. For us, though, I won't take anything away from the boys. They fought back from a 3-1 deficit to ultimately win the game in overtime. So fair play to our boys, I thought we worked extremely hard after conceding (goals). For us, I thought we grew a little bit more tonight."

The hero of the night was, ultimately freshman Francisco Ramirez. With the match knotted at 3-3, Ramirez took a ball – delivered by Cheslon Carollisen and Luke Watson-Read – and went far upper corner for the winner in the 98th minute.

However, getting the Aggies in position for the win had a lot to do with another outstanding effort from the junior transfer Carollisen. Carollisen had a hand- or more accurately a foot - in all four of Panhandle State's goals.

After a scoreless first half of play and 15 minutes of the second half, the Mustangs and Aggies performance after the 60th minute provided the crowd with a flood of goals…three by each team. After USW finally netted the night's first goal in the 61st minute, the Aggies tied things at 1-1 on a goal by Andres Munoz, with assists going to Carollisen and Ramirez, in the 68th minute.

The visiting Southwest side kept the flurry going, putting in goals in the 69th and 70th minutes to lead, 3-1. But Panhandle was undeterred.

Carollisen slammed home back-to-back goals for his club, forging a tie at 3-3. Carollisen's first goal came at 72:33 minutes, assisted by Matti Veechi and Ramirez. In the 86th minute, Watson-Reed got the ball to Carollisen again, who beat Mustang goalie Devin Robbins for his second tally of the night. That sent the match to overtime, where he would also assist on the match winner by Ramirez.

In three matches played by Carollisen for OPSU, the Cape Town, South Africa native has booked five goals and three assists. For Ramirez, in five contests, he has scored three goals and three assists. Munoz's goal was his first as an Aggie.

Panhandle State goalkeeper Cristhofer Monje registered two saves, both in the first half.

The Aggies will next travel to Barclay College on Tuesday (Sept. 17/6:30 p.m.) for a return match versus the Bears (OPSU won by a 14-1 score versus BC in the second match of the season). It will be the final test before the Aggies play their first-ever conference soccer match on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at Wayland Baptist.
