Box Score
WAXAHACHIE, Texas - Oklahoma Panhandle State University men's basketball was unable to counteract Southwestern Assemblies of God University's depth and size, suffering an 87-57 Sooner Athletic Conference loss on the road.

The Aggies fell to 3-8 on the year and are 0-4 in the SAC. The Lions, who gained national attention in the latest NAIA poll, improved to 10-2 and 2-2 in conference.

The Lions built an early 26-12 lead. But with 5:54 remaining in the half, Cameron Ray drilled a three-ball. Seconds later, Daniel Holyfield corralled a defensive rebound and converted the layup at the other end, to bring OPSU to within nine (26-17) with just over five minutes left until the break.

However, the Lions roared back. SAGU would finish the opening half on a 15-2 blitz and take a 41-19 halftime lead.

Panhandle did not have an answer for SAGU's decided advantage in both height and numbers. The Lions pounded the paint to the tune of 42 points, while the Aggies booked 18 points from close range. OPSU showed the effects of just having two available substitutes, as SAGU ran in waves of fresh players (13 Lions saw action in the contest), resulting in 27 Aggie turnovers that were converted into 28 points by the Lions.

Jalen Williams paced the OPSU scoring with 18 points, hitting 5-of-12 from the field and a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw stripe. He also had three rebounds and three assists.

Quentin Fankhouser and Daniel Holyfield each put in 18 points. Fankhouser – a sophomore transfer – recorded his first double-double as an Aggie, scoring 12 points and matching his season-high rebound total with 12.

Holyfield canned 5-of-9 from the floor as he also had the dozen-point game. Holyfield hauled in eight caroms and passed off for two assists, as well.

Freshmen Ray and Michael Bagwill, each playing in just their third games for OPSU, had six points apiece. Both made a pair of three-point baskets to account for their points.

Brett Williams' three points rounded out the Panhandle scoring. Williams turned in three rebounds and three assists, as well.

The Aggies did have their best free throw shooting game of the year, connecting on 14-of-18 (87.5%) from the charity stripe. Panhandle hit nearly 40 percent (19-48) from the field, while the Lions were just under 50 percent (37-75) shooting. SAGU also made twice as many from beyond the arc (10) as did the Aggies (5).
