WAXAHACHIE, Texas - A combination of a cold shooting afternoon and being out-rebounded spelled doom for the Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball in a 67-41 loss at Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

The loss dropped the Aggies to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. The Lions upped their record to 7-4 in 2019-20 and 2-2 in the SAC.

The host SAGU squad bolted out to a 7-0 lead after a little over four minutes of play.
Laura Moya Demures got OPSU on the board at the 5:35 juncture of the opening period with a jumper in the paint that made it 7-2. A three-ball by
Shay Audrain at 2:51 made it 7-5, but the Lions would still lead after one quarter, 11-7.

In the second period, SAGU was able to slightly extend its cushion. OPSU trailed by nine (20-11) with 6:19 left until the break and eventually going into the halftime locker room trailing by a 27-15 margin.

SAGU tallied first to open the second half, but
Kaylee Morgan hit back-to-back jumpers to keep the Aggies close at 27-19. But SAGU pushed its cushion back to double figures, as well as create more separation versus the youthful Aggies by the end of the third quarter, 50-28. That trend continued into the final quarter, as well, as OPSU was out-scored, 17-13, by SAGU.

Moya Demures led Panhandle in scoring by booking 15 points. Moya Demures had an efficient 7-for-15 shooting day from the field.

Sophomore guard
Kaylee Morgan was the team's only other player to reach double figures with 14 points. Morgan also had a hot shooting game, connecting on 5-of-8 from the floor overall. Morgan shared top rebounding honors for the Aggies – along with
Lowendie Laporal and
Hannah Bennett – with five boards. Bennett also tallied four points.

It was an uncharacteristically cold shooting game for the Panhandle State squad, especially when it came to three point shots. Entering the game as one of the NAIA's top teams for both three-point field goals made per game (10.36) and three-point field goal percentage (38 %), the SAGU defense held OPSU to a 1-16 (6.3%) shooting afternoon from beyond the arc.

A total of 22 OPSU turnovers were converted into 15 points by the Lions. With a 46-36 margin in rebounds as well, SAGU 13 second-chance points. Panhandle State's bench out-dueled the Lions by 20-19 points.
