Box Score GOODWELL, Okla. - The Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's basketball team could not overcome a strong inside game by the University of Science and Arts-Oklahoma, dropping a Sooner Athletic Conference contest at home, 69-48. The Aggies fell to 4-9 overall and 0-5 in the SAC, while the Drovers improved to 9-4 on the season and 4-1 in conference action.
Panhandle worked to stay within striking distance, down by a 21-12 score after one quarter. The Aggies trailed at the half, 40-26. The Drovers out-scored OPSU 15-11 in the third quarter and 14-11 in the fourth as they maintained a double-digit advantage over the hosts the rest of the way.
OPSU did not have an answer for USAO's size, as the Drovers out-rebounded the Aggies by a 48-28 margin. USAO, one of the premiere shot-blocking teams in the NAIA, added to its total by swatting eight Aggie shot attempts.
For the third-consecutive game, Panhandle State was led in scoring by freshman
Shay Audrain (Stratford, Texas). Audrain hit the nets for 15 points, hitting 6-of-15 from the field and 3-of-8 from beyond the arc. She also had a pair of assists.
Sophomore guard
Kaylee Morgan (El Paso, Texas) was the only other Aggie to tally in double figures with 10 points. Morgan was 3-of-7 from the floor and 4-of-6 from the free throw line. She also led the OPSU squad with three assist, making a steal as well.
Senior
Nadia Hayes (Mesquite, Texas) came within a basket of a double-double, finishing with eight points and a team-leading six rebounds in 15 minutes on the floor. Senior transfer
Lowendie Laporal (Guadeloupe, France) matched Hayes' eight points. Laporal also hauled in five rebounds, made two steals and had an assist.
Shaylynn Choate (Trinidad, Colo.), a junior, added five points and two boards to the OPSU coffers. Two points from
Laura Moya Demures (Barcelona, Spain) rounded out the Aggie scorers. Moya Demures also had one block and two assists.
Panhandle State will next play Saturday at home versus Mid-America Christian University. Tipoff at Anchor D Arena is slated for 2 p.m.
