GOODWELL, Okla. – Playing its first game in more than three weeks, the Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss at home to Arizona Christian University at Anchor D Stadium. The loss dropped the Aggies to 1-1 on the year, while the Firestorm improved to 1-1.
"It was a tough game for us today," OPSU Head Coach
Mike Rosso said. "We weren't able to match ACU's intensity throughout the game and the score line reflects that. We created a couple good scoring chances, but weren't able to finish them.
"(Goalkeeper)
Mya Szymanski had an outstanding game and if it weren't for her performance the score could have been much higher. This showed us what improvements need to be made before our next game so it's back to work on Monday to continue to improve."
Szymanski had a total of 11 saves versus a Firestorm attack that out-shot the Aggies, 27-5 and 14 shots directly on-goal. Conversely, ACU's goalkeepers had two total saves.
Sophia Rodriguez had two of the OPSU shot attempts.
Jocelyn Martinez and
Ariana Ramirez each had one shot apiece, each on-goal.
