GOODWELL, Oklahoma - In the last home game of the season the Oklahoma Panhandle State men's soccer team pulled out another overtime win against the Texas Wesleyan Rams. Bring them to a total of 10 wins on the season and inching closer to a top 25 spot and conference championship.
The Aggies would start strong and their advances would pay dividends as they eventually found themselves up a player due to a red card on the Rams. The Aggie's proved their effectiveness at controlling the pace of the game, yet the Rams would get the first goal of the game just outside the 73rd minute off the boot of Augustas Aldonis. After the field reset the Aggies would get to work subbing in forwards
Liam Pritchard and
Freddy Nancarrow. Pritchard would facilitate the game-tying goal from
Dennis Lippman at the 84th minute. Inevitably sending the Aggies to their 3rd overtime game of the year.Â
Overtime would prove no different this go around for the Aggies. Keeping the Rams from even getting a single shot in both overtimes while they got off 5. Pritchard, Nieto, and Nancarrow would test the Rams goalie before the last shot, and game-winner came from Sophomore
Jesus Sosa off the assist from Pritchard.Â
With the win, the Aggies take a solid stand as the number 2 team in the Sooner Athletic Conference behind the Mid-America Christian Evangels. Who they will face on the pitch this coming Tuesday, October 26th in Oklahoma City before finishing the regular season against the Wayland Baptist Pioneers. On the victory, Head Coach
Brandon Misuraca had to say that he's "pleased with the team's performance, especially in the first half. Going into the game we knew that Texas Wesleyan would be a tough opponent and would fight until the final whistle. It is good to see our boys digging deep to not only equalize but also find the match-winner in the final moments. Now we shift our attention to Tuesday's match on the road."
