GOODWELL, Oklahoma - Oklahoma Panhandle State University Men's soccer team finished the regular season in second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference (SAC). As a result, the Aggie's will host the university's first-ever conference tournament game for men's soccer. The Aggies are seeded #2 and will take on the #7 seeded Southwestern Christian University Eagles this Friday, November 5th, at 7 PM for the first round of the conference tournament. The Aggie men's soccer program has made the Sooner Athletic Conference postseason tournament three consecutive years in a row.
The Aggie's end with a top 5 offense headlined by freshman
Liam Pritchard, sophomore
Jesus Sosa, senior
Allan Gamboa, sophomore
Hugo Dutour. The offense would finish third in total goals (43) and fifth in goals per game (2.867). Dutour led with the conference's lowest goals-against average (.902). He would also finish 2nd in save percentage (70%), tied for 1st in total shutouts (3), and 7th in total saves (21).
The Aggies battled out a win against the previously #25 ranked Eagles earlier this season with a final score of 1-0 in a match that went into single overtime with a goal from the team's leading scorer,
Liam Pritchard. A game where the Aggies proved to be far more efficient than the Eagles. The Aggies finish the game with eight shots and five shots on goal to the Eagles' eighteen total shots with four on goal. The Aggies proved to be better both offensively and defensively, with sophomore
Hugo Dutour handling the box. Dutour would save each shot that came his way in the 92 minutes of the match.
An Aggie win would pit them against the #3 seed Wayland Baptist Pioneers or the #6 seed Texas Wesleyan Rams, Monday, November 8th at home.
