Panhandle State's senior, Bailey Small, continued his momentum at Garden City Community College leading the men's team to a fourth place finish. Senior, McKenna Brennan, stepped out of her slump this spring leading the women's team to a third place finish.
Senior, Bailey Small made a clean sweep in the Saddle Bronc Riding with high score of 84-points to win both rounds and the average. This jumped him into the Top 3 in the region standings. Cade Bell, junior, also got a piece of the pie with scores of 73-points in the long round to place fifth, and 70-points in the short go which put him sixth in the average.
Staying at the bucking chutes Zach Rohrbough, freshman, made his first appearance in the Bull Riding placing third in the long round and the average with a 66-point ride.
Moving to the timed-event end, seniors, Harlee Voss, Hope Lutrell, and Evan Meashaw made their way back in the Team Roping. Voss paied up with Kylar Hogan from Colbly Community College, placed tenth in the long round, but cleaned it up in the short go with a 8.7-second run to place fourth in the average. Lutrell and Meashaw teamed up to placed eleventh in the long round, but a no time left them empty handed for the average.
In the Tie-Down Roping, Cooper Slavin, a junior, placed eighth in the long round with a 10.9-second run while teammate Ryler Allred, senior, split ninth and tenth with a 11.3-second run. Slavin made a solid run leaving him to finish sixth in the short go and the average. Allred got a speeding ticket at the line, but still placed seventh in the go and average.
Ry Clark, senior, was the lone Aggie in the Steer Wrestling. He placed seventh with a 5.7-second run in the long round, and a tough steer left him long in the short go. Clark finished eleventh in the go and average.
McKenna Brennan, senior, found her footing this spring winning the long round in the Goat Tying with a smoking 6.3-second run. Teammate, Parker McIntyre, who is leading the standings, didn't let up on her momentum with a 7.6-second run to give her another chance on Sunday. Junior, Kayla Johnson, found her groove at Garden City splitting fifth and sixth in the long round. Brennan saftied up with a 7-second run placing second in the short go, but won the average. McIntyre came back hot with a 7.2-second run and split third and fourth in the go, and a three way split in the average. Johnson was a little long in the short go, but placed eight in the round and average.
In the Breakaway, senior, Rillie Ratliff made her second stance this spring. She was a 2.4-second run in the long round to split third and fourth. Brennan was just behind her with a 2.6-second run for a three way split for fourth through sixth. Johnson and sophomore, Laney Harper, split ninth through thirteenth with 2.8-second runs. Ratliff played it smart and placed third in the go and split third and fourth in the average. Brennan also made a business run splitting fifth and sixth in the short go and average. Johnson and Harper both caught the barrier leaving them eighth and tenth respectively in the round and average.
With three rodeos left of this season, the Panhandle State men's team is sitting seventh in the region while the women's team is fourth. Both teams look to continue the success from Garden City this weekend at Southwestern Oklahoma State University starting April 13.
