Box Score In an intense matchup the Oklahoma Panhandle State University Men's Soccer team went head-to-head with Bethel College (Kan.) and ended the game in a hard-fought 0-0 draw.
Â
Bethel College dominated the game with a total of 11 shots, 8 of which were on target. However, the Aggies' defense, led by goalkeeper
Aaron Smith, stood strong, with Smith making an impressive 6 saves to keep the opposition at bay. Head Coach Garrett Kull had this to say about Goalkeeper Aaron, "
Aaron Smith was a key guy in the goal for us because of his leadership and steadiness in moments. We created some chances late and with some work I think those will turn into goals. We still have a lot of work to do in achieving what I think this team can become, but you have to give credit to Bethel for their organization and ability to test us."
On the offensive side, the Aggies managed 3 shots, with 2 of them on target.
Bryan Riojas had a notable performance with two shots, one of which was on goal.
Juan Balbin also made a significant contribution with a shot on target.
Â
Coach Kull in his first year as Head Coach of the Aggies, is proud of his team, ""It was a hard-fought game tonight. We were missing some key guys in the lineup and off the bench but I was proud of how hard the team played. To start the season with 3 shutouts in four games is a great accomplishment for a team that prides itself on defense. Tonight was about heart and effort and our Aggies rose to the occasion."
Â
The OPSU Men's Soccer team will continue their home stretch as they prepare to take on the University of the Southwest (N.M.) on Saturday, September 9th, with kickoff scheduled for 2:30 PM.
