GOODWELL, Okla.- The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggie women's soccer team suffered a 2-0 defeat against Southwestern Christian University. Despite a valiant effort, the Aggies could not break through SCU's defense and capitalize on their scoring chances.
After a scoreless first half, SCU came out strong in the second half, netting two goals to secure the victory. The Aggies held their own in the first half, but SCU's offensive pressure increased, leading to the decisive goals.
Southwestern Christian outshot OPSU 11-5, with five shots on target compared to three for the Aggies. Both teams had solid defensive efforts, with each goalkeeper recording three saves. The Aggies had opportunities from corner kicks, particularly in the first half, but couldn't convert.
Aggie head coach Ken McAlpine remained optimistic after the match, stating, "I thought we did a really good job of handling the ball against Southwestern Christian University, but we need to do a better job of creating opportunities to score against Wayland this coming weekend."
