Goodwell, Oklahoma — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Aggies men's and women's rodeo teams showcased their grit and talent at their final rodeo of the fall season in Alva, Oklahoma. With standout performances from the men's and women's teams, the Aggies capped off the semester on a high note, setting their sights on a competitive spring season.
In the men's bareback riding, Wyatt Aldrich made a notable showing with a score of 65 points in the long round, placing him seventh as he entered the short round. Aldrich followed up with a 62-point ride, securing fifth place in the average.
The saddle bronc riding saw an impressive effort from Kody Cavender. Cavender's 70-point ride in the long round earned him the fourth spot heading into the short round. Despite a valiant attempt, he encountered a tough draw and finished without a score in the short round.
For the Aggie women, Helen Poer made an impressive debut in the breakaway roping. Her 2.3-second run in the long round put her in a split for fourth through ninth place. Poer stayed sharp in the short round, posting an even faster 2.2-second run to secure third place in the average. Kayla Rhoades joined Poer in the breakaway roping, turning in a solid 2.4-second run in the long round to tie for tenth through thirteenth. In the short round, tough luck at the barrier led to a 13.0-second run, putting Rhoades outside the average.
In the barrel racing, Kiley Slavin clocked a swift 13.38 seconds in the long round, placing her fifth heading into the short round. However, a tipped barrel in the short round led to a time of 18.19 seconds, putting her just outside the average.
With this final fall rodeo under their belts, the Aggies rodeo teams now look ahead to the spring season.
