Women's Soccer Snaps 16-Game Losing Streak with 4-0 Victory

Goodwell, Okla. – On Saturday afternoon, the Aggies women's soccer team ended their four-game road stretch on a high note with a 4-0 win over the Southwestern College Jinx.

This was the first-ever meeting between the two programs, and the Aggies made it memorable by snapping a 16-game losing streak that dated back to last season.

The breakthrough came in the 33rd minute when Jacqueline Escalera netted her first goal of the season, assisted by Yaddelis Alderete. The Aggies maintained their momentum after the halftime break, with Dayana Murillo doubling the lead in the 54th minute with an assist from Emma Daskalov.

Daskalov scored her own goal in the 58th minute, assisted by Escalera.

Emily Chavez won with a goal in the 67th minute.

Goalkeeper AlaraLynn Gunderson went the full 90 minutes without facing a shot on target, earning her first win as an Aggie.

After the win, head coach Ken McAlpine stated, "I am really happy and proud of our team for getting the result today. I feel we have been building towards it through our first 3 games. We didn't start the game well--we were sloppy and not as composed as we can be on the ball. However, we did a good job defensively to limit them and head to half up. We talked at halftime about winning the game in the first 15 minutes in the second half. I'm really pleased with the response and we looked much more like ourselves to start the 2nd. Credit to our backline and our kepper for picking up the first clean sheet of the season. We will continue to improve and look forward to getting back on the field on Wednesday".

The Aggies will return home for their next match, hosting Adams State University on Wednesday, September 18, at 2:00 PM at Anchor D Stadium at Carl Wooten Field.
