OKLAHOMA CITY — Freshman
Pablo Benavides was named the SAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week following Saturday's 2-2 draw at RV John Brown, announced Monday by the conference recognizing performances from Oct. 13-19.
Benavides scored his first career goal in the 77th minute Saturday, an equalizer that netted the Aggies a point against a quality opponent in the standings.
His goal was just the defender's fourth shot this season, and it came on a breakaway opportunity for the offense.
Running down the left sideline and cutting towards the net as a deep pass was played ahead to
Til Vaupel, Benavides positioned himself perfectly to receive a last-second dish from his fellow freshman. The Madrid, Spain, native split the defense and fired his shot past the JBU goalkeeper to complete OPSU's comeback draw.
Benavides' honor is the first for the men's soccer program since October 2021, and it is the 11th SAC Athlete of the Week award garnered by Panhandle State Athletics in 2025-26.
Benavides and the Aggie men are back in action Monday evening at Mid-America Christian.
