GOODWELL, Okla. — Oklahoma Panhandle State University Athletics has named Tryssa Dowd of women's basketball and football's Loren Snead as the Mack's Motorsports Aggies of the Week from Nov. 10-16.
Dowd came into this week already warm after her performances in the No Man's Land Classic the weekend before, and she showed no sign of wearing down in her performance Wednesday against Dallas Christian College. Dowd lived in the paint, marking up nine rebounds (five offensive) and 14 points, 10 of which came in the paint with an additional four points from the charity stripe. Her two first-quarter blocks also helped set the tone for the Aggies as they opened up a sizable first-half lead, 40-22, and her dominating presence opened up the floor offensively as OPSU made its most threes of the season, shooting 8-for-24 from deep. The Aggies went on to secure the victory, 73-61, against the Crusaders.
Snead highlighted his college football finale with an interception early in the first half against longtime football rival Langston University. That pick marked his third of the season and sent his career total into the double digits – the first time a player has reached 10 interceptions in program history. Snead, who is also the punter for the Aggies, was efficient on the special teams unit as well. He booted six punts for 234 yards, notching two inside the 20 and blasting a 50-yarder as well. Snead has spent his whole career at OPSU, coming in as a quarterback his freshman year, converting to becoming a dominant safety, and adding more skills to his arsenal by handling the punting duties this season. The Swiss army knife of the Aggies has molded himself a fine career in Goodwell and ended it in style in Langston.
