Women’s Golf Wraps Up Individual Play at USW Spring Invitational

HOBBS, N.M. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University women's golf team teed off in their third event of the spring at the USW Spring Invitational, held at Rockwind Community Links Golf Course on April 7-8. 

Leading the way for the Aggies was Caitlyn Ambrose, who finished 19th overall after posting rounds of 87 (+15) and 94 (+22) for a two-day total of 181 (+37). Ambrose showed solid composure on day one with a 41 on the back nine, and while her second round proved more challenging, she remained consistent across both nines with matching 47s.

Also representing OPSU was Mallory Maltese, who mirrored Ambrose's day-one score with an 87 (+15) before carding a 102 (+30) in round two. Her second round featured a 49 on the front nine and a 53 on the back, giving her a two-day total of 189 (+45).

Mercedes Vasquez rounded out the Aggie competitors, improving slightly from round one with a 100 (+28) after an opening round of 101 (+29). Vasquez's consistent play included a pair of pars on the par-3 holes and a 49 on the front nine in round two, finishing with  201 (+57).

Up Next: The Aggies return to action on April 14-15 when they travel to Fort Worth, Texas, for the Texas Wesleyan Invitational, hosted by Texas Wesleyan University.
