DURANT, Okla. — Oklahoma Panhandle State Rodeo continued its season at the Southeastern Oklahoma State Rodeo from Sept. 25-27, where both the men's and women's teams placed 11th overall.
Five individuals qualified for the short round, with
Luke Tippmann and
Brayden Kunz leading the Aggies with sixth-place averages.
Men's Performances
In the tie down roping, Kunz was one of three competitors to complete the long-go in under 10 seconds, as he stopped the clock at 9.1 seconds for second place. The sophomore did not record a time in the short round as he dropped to sixth in the average.
Similarly, Tippmann's score of 61 positioned the bareback rider in fifth heading into finals, but he had no score to also average out to sixth place.
Riley Stark had a saddle bronc riding long round of 67 points to tie for sixth-seventh. No score in the short-go saw him average 10th.
Women's Performances
Layni Masters had another impressive long round in the breakaway roping, tying for third-fourth with a time of 2.6 seconds. No time in finals dropped her to a tie for 11th-12th.
Kiley Slavin made the short-go in goat tying after recording a time of 7.5 seconds in the long round. The senior stayed steady in that short round with a time of 10.5 seconds to average 11th.
What's up next: OPSU looks to improve its short-go performances when it travels to Stillwater, Oklahoma, on Oct. 2-4 for the Oklahoma State Rodeo.
