LAWRENCE, Kan.  — The Oklahoma Panhandle State men's track & field team split up over the weekend, with several throwers competing at the Corky/Crofoot Shootout on Thursday, others travelling to the Sooner Invitational Saturday, and the majority of the runners racing at the Rock Chalk Classic Friday-Saturday.

At the Corky/Crofoot Shootout hosted by Texas Tech, Richmond Howell placed third in the shot put with a mark of 11.31 meters and eighth in the discus with a throw of 29.36 meters.

William Sirmans blasted his personal best in the hammer as he became the third Aggie this season to break the 39.00-meters barrier, coming in at 39.06 meters. Meanwhile, Xavyer Mosqueda led OPSU in the javelin Thursday with a top distance of 40.37 meters to place fifth.

"Will Sirmans PR'ed by like four or five meters. … Beyond that, they were all pretty average. Again, I think it's just mental, physical fatigue of the conference championship and then you turn it around a few days later and try and do it again. But anyways, good year for those guys. Will and Rich are going to graduate and move on, and (Xavyer) will be back next year and we hope he can be build on the good things that he did this year and be a monster next year," head coach Cyrus Hall said.

Ayden Hendershot and Wyatt Hamilton were in Norman, Oklahoma, Saturday for the Sooner Invitational. Hendershot led OPSU in both the discus and hammer throws with marks of 37.33 and 38.25 meters, respectively, while Hamilton posted his PR and the Aggies' third best distance of the year with a mark of 43.23 meters in the javelin.

At the Rock Chalk Classic, all of the 100- and 200-meters sprinters finished inside the top 10 and within the top half of the fields.

Dillon Bruington finished seventh with a time of 10.76 seconds in the 100-meters for seventh place, and Christian Soto followed in ninth place at 11.16 seconds.

Austin White raced to a sixth-place time of 22.54 seconds in the 200-meters, with Alan Martinez just behind in ninth at 22.73 seconds.

David Okorie and Martinez raced in the 400-meters, notching marks of 49.73 and 40.41 seconds, respectively.

Hall was impressed with Joshua Samaron's personal-best race of 4:17.72 in the 1,500-meters, which was just shy of the school record. Hall was sure to note the wonderful career Samaron put together as an Aggie.

Finally, the OPSU men continued to search for an NAIA Standard mark in the 4x100-meters Saturday at the Rock Chalk Classic, but the group of Bruington, Gino Sapalo, White and Soto came up short at 41.67 seconds, taking third place.

"We were flat," Hall said. "We looked good, we just didn't run fast. The 4x1's, they ran well, they executed their handoffs, they just looked slow. I just think long travel, coming off conference, everybody's kind of flat."

What's up next: While the majority of Aggie athletes' seasons are over, the 4x100-meter relay team is set to compete a final time in 2025-26 in hopes of reaching an NAIA B Standard time to secure a trip to Nationals. Stay tuned to opsuaggies.com for any schedule updates.
