GOODWELL, Okla. — Five members of the Oklahoma Panhandle State track & field teams were awarded 2025-26 CSC Academic All-District® honors Tuesday, as announced by College Sports Communicators through its release of the track & field/cross country award winners.
Dillon Bruington,
Richmond Howell and
Xavyer Mosqueda earned the prestigious distinction on the men's side, while
Avery Brown and
Ashlynn Perez represented the women's squad.
The five athletes are the first Aggie track & field/cross country team members to earn CSC Academic All-District recognition since the OPSU track program was reinstated in 2022.
Bruington had a strong junior season, ranking sixth in the conference 100-meters with a time of 10.61 seconds and 13th in the 200-meters at 22.11 seconds during the outdoor season. The Petersburg, Texas, native also helped the 4x100-meter relay team to Second Team All-SAC honors. In the classroom, Bruington has maintained an exceptional cumulative GPA above 3.8 as a health & physical education major.
Howell recently graduated with his degree in criminal justice and psychology while sustaining excellence in the classroom. The OPSU thrower ranked inside the top 25 amongst outdoor SAC athlete in three events: shot put, discus and javelin. Hailing from Canyon, Texas, Howell posted a career-best discus throw of 31.50 meters at the SAC Championships in late April.
Mosqueda impressed in his sophomore season, setting or resetting program records on four occasions. The Earth, Texas, native put up a Third Team All-SAC showing in the javelin throw and ranked third in the conference in the event during the year with his season-best mark of 47.01 meters. He also finished fourth in the conference rankings in the hammer throw while also posting strong numbers in the shot put and discus events as a top-16 conference performer. The business administration major has kept up a cumulative GPA above 3.75 to solidify his status as Academic All-District.
Brown earned Sooner Athletic Conference Field Athlete of the Week honors three times in 2026, including during the week of March 30-April 5 where she set the outdoor shot put program record. An academic junior majoring in elementary education, Brown has maintained a near-perfect cumulative GPA above 3.95. The Little Elm, Texas, native finished the outdoor season boasting top-10 rankings in the SAC in all three of the discus, shot put and hammer events, highlighted by ranking second in the hammer with a season-best throw of 40.04 meters.
Perez completed her junior year maintaining strong academic performance as a health & physical education major. On the track, she impressed during the outdoor season by posting four of the team's top five non-wind-aided times in the 100-meters. The sprinter from Venus, Texas, also played a key part in the 4x100-meter relay team that raced to Second Team All-Sooner Athletic Conference honors.
About the CSC Academic All-America Program
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Track & Field/Cross Country Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their performances on the track and in the classroom.
CSC Academic All-District honorees are nominated by their respective institution's sports information department for exceeding high standards set as a student-athlete.
To be eligible for the award, student-athletes must have achieved sophomore status academically and maintain a GPA of 3.50 or higher. Additionally, NAIA track & field / cross country runners must be among the top-25 in the conference rankings from TFRRS in at least one event.
