GOODWELL, Okla. - Oklahoma Panhandle State University football will be hosting Texas Wesleyan University for its 2019 Homecoming Game on Saturday (Oct. 12) at Anchor D Stadium at Carl Wooten Field.  Both the Aggies are the Rams are currently a part of a three-way logjam for fifth place in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings, at 1-2 in SAC contests.  Both teams are also 1-4 overall in 2019.

These two teams have only met twice prior to today and both times in the past two seasons. OPSU has won both previous meetings with the Rams: 65-6 in 2017 in Goodwell, and; 49-25 last year in Fort Worth, Texas. The Aggies were defeated by NCAA Division I FCS Sam Houston State University in week two. Like TWU, OPSU has dropped two bouts against ranked opponents:  current No. 16 Langston University and No. 18 OUAZ last Saturday.

After opening 2019 with four-consecutive road games, Panhandle came home last week against the nationally-ranked Spirit. Despite the loss, the Aggies received a great effort from quarterback Tony Brown. Brown carried the ball 27 times and had a Panhandles State and SAC season-high of 225 yards on the ground. Brown average of 8.3 yards per carry. He also completed 10-of-24 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown. Brown's rushing total was the most ground yards allowed to an opponent OUAZ this season, as well as the second-most by any SAC back in 2019. Brown also unleashed a 58-yard touchdown strike to Seth Barbarino on the fourth play of the game.
