Box Score GOODWELL, Okla. – The Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggie Football team hosted Arkansas Baptist College Buffalo, Saturday afternoon in the Anchor D. Stadium. Before the game, the Aggies got to meet the 1981 Panhandle State Football team. The 1981 Alumni Aggie Team went 9-0, earned an NAIA national playoff spot and, ended the season ranked 5th nationally. The Aggies beat the Buffalo 52-18 to improve their conference record to 3-4.
The Aggie offensively dominated the Buffalo; with nearly 500 total offensive yards, the Aggies stunned the Buffalo defense. Averaging 6.4 yards per play, the Aggies remained in system and executed the game plan. Freshman QB
Brandon Stephens was 15 of 25 for 267 yards and threw for 3 touchdowns. Demonstrating his ability to scramble out of the pocket, Stephens also rushed for 45 yards on the day.
Jamalrian Jones led the Aggies rush game with 71 total yards on 12 carries, averaging nearly 6 yards per carry.
Willie McCline had two huge receptions on the day for 87 yards and 1 touchdown.
The Aggie defense nearly halted the Buffalo offense, keeping them to just one touchdown in the first, second, and fourth quarter while shutting them down entirely in the third. The Buffalo was held at just over 250 total offensive yards, and 92 yards in Buffalo penalties worked in favor of the Aggies. The Aggies forced 3 fumbles and only allowed the Buffalo to convert once on a third-down the entire game. In addition, the Aggies had 2 interceptions and capitalized on 1, running it back for a touchdown. The Aggie defense also had 5 sacks on the day that cost the Buffalo nearly 50 yards.
Jordin Hunter led the Aggies with 7 solos tackles, followed by
Nathan Alvarado and
D'Quan Charles, each contributing 4. And a massive show by
Naim McMillan and
Nathan Alvarado credited for a combined 5 sacks.
The Aggie special teams were quite impressive to watch today as well. With wind speeds clocking at nearly 20 miles per hour, hometown freshman kicker
Javier Sinecio was 7 for 7 at extra point attempts today and put one through the uprights from 34 yards out during the second quarter for a field goal. In addition,
Willie McCline had 2 kickoff returns for a total of 39 yards.
Overall, the Aggies showed up to play and execute, refusing to take anything less than a "W" today. Coach Majeski stated in his post-game interview today, "I'm proud of these Assistant Coaches and these kids. This was a good win for them. Now we prepare for the next game." Happy with the game plan and his team's ability to refocus after some early hiccups, Coach Majeski has his sights focused on the last home game of the season.
Next up for the Aggies is to host Arizona Christian University on October 30th at 2 pm.
